HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 4775 Beechaven Drive. When officers arrived, witnesses who lived there told them someone had broken into their home and shot Mr. Rivera while he was in his bed. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Rivera to the hospital where he died. Witnesses also told investigators they heard gunshots and when they came out of their bedroom, they were confronted by a Hispanic male suspect with a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at the female witness and then fled the scene.
A 25-year-old man was shot in his bed during a break-in early Sunday morning in Southwest Houston.
A man broke into a home in the 4700 block of Beechaven about 4 a.m. and fired multiple shots, hitting Daniel Rivera, Jr., while in his bed, according to Houston Police Department spokesman Victor Senties. Rivera was transported to Ben Taub hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s grandparent’s heard the shots, came out of their bedroom and were confronted by the armed man, witnesses told police.
“He points the gun at the female witness and he then flees the house on foot,” Senties said.
