LYNWOOD – The Los Angeles County coroner’s office Sunday released the name of the man shot and killed by a deputy in Lynwood after allegedly pulling a handgun and shooting at the deputy.
He was identified as Edgar Villareal, 25, who had no city of residence, said Investigator Kristy McCracken.
The deputy attempted to contact Villareal as he was walking in the 4000 block of Agnes Street Tuesday about 1:40 p.m., and it led to the circumstances of the shooting, Deputy Mark Pope of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
Villareal was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The deputy was not injured, Pope said.
