Double Shooting – Killed – Xavier Shivers (Atlanta, GA)

Two men were shot – one of them fatally – in southwest Atlanta Saturday night, and Sunday, police charged the surviving man with killing the other.

Police responding to the scene in the 3600 block of Ginnis Road around 7:30 p.m. Saturday found one man grazed in the head, and the other shot in the chest, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said.

Both men were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where the man with the chest wound later died.

Sunday, homicide investigators charged the surviving man, 22-year-old Nicholas Corwin Sanders, with murder, aggravated assault and obstruction of a law enforcement officer, Jones said.

“Investigators served Sanders with the arrest warrant while Sanders was in Grady Hospital receiving treatment for injuries acquired during this incident,” Jones said. “City of Atlanta Detention Officers were notified about Sanders’ arrest and received custody of Sanders.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the dead man as Xavier Shavers, 21, of Union City.

The 21-year-old was shot at 3612 Ginnis Rd. at about 5:30 p.m. in an apparent shoot out.
