A Dayton man who was shot to death outside a Northwest Side bar early yesterday was the sixth person killed by Columbus police gunfire this year.
Jonathan D. Rodgers, 22, had shot another man just after 2 a.m. yesterday before police killed him, said Sgt. Rich Weiner, a police spokesman.
Witnesses told police that Rodgers and the man were arguing in Charlie Bear, 2885 Olentangy River Rd. in the University Plaza. Rodgers went to the parking lot, got a gun and shot the man as he left the bar, police said.
Two officers working special duty in the shopping plaza saw Rodgers with the gun and fired multiple times, killing him. A handgun was found in the parking lot. Police are still looking for the man Rodgers shot.
