BAY ST. LOUIS, Mississippi — A Kiln, Mississippi, man charged in a fatal shooting and engaging in a standoff with deputies is scheduled for trial Dec. 1 in Hancock County.
A grand jury recently indicted Gary Thomas Topham on one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Authorities say Bruce Necaise was fatally shot during an argument with Topham at Topham’s home on Dec. 3, 2013.
Authorities say Topham barricaded himself in a barn and held deputies at bay for two hours. During that time, authorities say Topham allegedly fired four shotgun blasts at deputies. He was arrested after deputies fired tear gas canisters into the barn.
Anderson said when he heard gunshots Tuesday night and the commotion that followed, he ran to his neighbors house. He saw Bruce Necaise bleeding and tried to help.
But the 42-year old Necaise died overnight at a Alabama Hospital. Anderson said Necaise was renting a room from the man now accused of killing him.
