A man was killed early Tuesday in Junction City when his apartment was invaded by intruders, authorities said.
Junction City police identified the victim as Jose M. Paz, 22.
Emergency responders were called about 1:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting during a home invasion at an apartment unit in the 100 block of W. 16th Street.
Police Chief Tim Brown said there were multiple intruders who entered the unit and fled before officers arrived. He said detectives were attempting to identify the intruders.
Officers found two victims, one Paz and the other a second occupant of the apartment who received minor injuries that weren’t gunshot-related and declined medical treatment.
Paz was taken to Geary Community Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.
Brown said detectives suspect Paz died from gunshot wounds but were awaiting the results of an autopsy.
