Simi Valley police continued Thursday to investigate a homicide-suicide involving two longtime next-door neighbors, but they still had not determined a motive.
Police Cmdr. David Livingstone said investigators searched the homes of James Richard Wahe, 59, and Pamela McClain, 61, in the 3300 block of Billie Court. Police say Wahe shot and killed McClain before killing himself Tuesday morning.
“They’re still looking into the shooter and trying to determine whether or not he had some kind of motive with the victim, but at this point it appears there is none,” Livingstone said Thursday.
The woman’s body was found about 7 a.m. Tuesday in front of a neighbor’s house. The man’s body was found outside his home on the same cul-de-sac.
Livingstone said a large-caliber handgun was recovered at the scene. The gun was legally registered, but authorities would not say to whom.
“This is one of the more bizarre cases I’ve ever seen,” he said. “We didn’t have any 911 calls from anybody reporting any shots fired. The fire department got there and said, ‘We thought we were coming on a fall victim,’ and they found two shootings victims.
