VALLEJO (CBS SF) – A 22-year-old man was fatally shot in Vallejo on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The victim has been identified as Vallejo resident Emil Z. Rodriguez, according to police.
At about 3 p.m. on Thursday, Vallejo police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the area of Chesley Court and Tregaskis Avenue.
Officers located Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound in the vicinity of Webb and Cedar streets.
Rodriguez was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The 13-year-old sister of the victim told the Times-Herald that she was walking near Webb Street with her 22-year-old brother, later identified as Emil Z. Rodriguez, when he suddenly began running away, apparently being chased by an unknown man.
Her brother jumped a fence, with someone in hot pursuit, she said.
The girl said she next heard a series of gunshots nearby, then came across her brother, surrounded by people and bleeding from shots in the chest and arm area.
