Vallejo — A gun battle at a Vallejo Park cut short a rap concert at a Vallejo park late Friday night, leaving one woman dead and a second bystander injured, police say.
Several men exchanged fire at 11:53 p.m. in the parking lot at Dan Foley Park and police found the fatally wounded victim, an unidentified 34-year-old woman, non responsive. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead. Police found a second woman nearby in the same lot. She was treated at the hospital and later released.
Police said both women attended the concert held at the park’s main meeting hall that night and appeared to have been caught in the cross fire of a battle that involved several men with different caliber weapons. “They are not believed to be the intended targets,” Vallejo police said in a statement.
Vallejo police Monday released the name of the fatal shooting victim in a gunbattle at a Friday night concert.
The woman was identified as Esohe Izevbigie, 34, Oakland.
Izevbigie was shot just before midnight when a gunbattle erupted at the Dan Foley Cultural Center parking lot at a toy drive run by Darryl “Lil Scrappy” Richardson, an Atlanta-based rapper. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital early Saturday.
Another woman was also injured, but was treated and released by Saturday.
Police said Izevbigie and the other victim were caught in the crossfire, and were not the intended targets.
