Deputies arrested a Seagrove man today in connection with his wife’s death.
Joseph Levi Grantham, 44, faces charges of murder and fraudulently burning a dwelling in the death of Constance Olivia Grantham, 67.
Randolph County deputies responded at 12:45 a.m. to a welfare check at 4462 Woodfern Road. When they arrived at the scene, they found the stove’s gas valves turned on and Constance Grantham dead in the home, according to a news release. Joseph Grantham was not at the home, deputies said.
Constance Grantham had suffered a gunshot wound, deputies said.
Deputies left the home, then were called back because the home was on fire at 8:20 a.m., according to the release. Deputies called in the SBI Arson Team and continued a search for Joseph Grantham.
Deputies located and took Grantham into custody about 9:55 a.m., according to the release.
RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A Randolph County man has been charged with murdering his wife after a homicide investigation and house fire Friday morning.
