WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is dead after leaving a party overnight.
Police have identified the victim as Drayshawn Dowd, 20.
Around 12:24 a.m. officers responded to a shots fired call in the 4400 block of McClelland, according to WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley. While officers were searching the area they received another call about a body in the front yard of 4410 McClelland Drive. That’s where they found Dowd in the bushes. They say the victim had been shot several times. He died at the hospital
Witnesses told police Dowd had been at a party in the area and got into a fight before leaving. His body was found a short time later.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A Wilmington man has been arrested and charged with first degree murder.
Reginald Eugene Laughlin, 30, was arrested around 11 a.m. Thursday at his home on Princess Place Drive. Laughlin is being charged with murder in connection to 20-year-old Drayshawn Dowd.
Dowd’s body was found December 7 in the bushes off of McClelland Drive. He had been shot several times.
A Wilmington man was sentenced to three to five years in prison in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in December 2013.
Reginald Eugene Laughlin, 31, of Princess Place Drive, pleaded guilty on Thursday to involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Drayshawn Dowd on Dec. 7, 2013.
