The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office Wednesday identified the man shot late Sunday night at an apartment building east of downtown.
Rirecrase Colzie, 38, Atlanta, was visiting a friend at the Auburn Glenn apartments on Boulevard when he answered a knock on the door, Channel 2 Action News reported.
“It was at that time we believe a suspect produced a handgun and discharged a weapon several times, fatally injuring the victim in this case,” Atlanta police Major Keith Meadows told Channel 2.
Colzie died from a gunshot wound to the back, according to the medical examiner.
The shooting happened just before midnight Sunday on the fourth floor of the complex. According to Atlanta police spokesman, Captain Keith Meadows, a man was visiting his girlfriend at the complex. He responded to a knock at the door and was shot multiple times by an unknown individual. The victim’s girlfriend did not see the shooter and was unable to provide a description.
