The Sanford Police Department said Monday that a 17 year old is behind a fatal shooting earlier this month.
Detectives have charged Timothy Dequan Thompson of High Point with first-degree murder, possession of a handgun by a minor, and obstruction of justice.
Police said Thompson shot 31-year-old Stacey Morrison to death December 8 on Goldsboro Avenue.
Morrison, a truck driver, was shot at least once and taken to the Central Carolina Hospital Emergency Department, where he later died from his injuries, according to Sanford Police Capt. Harold Layton. It was the second shooting in the 1300 block of Goldsboro Avenue since Oct. 20.
Stacey Lamont Morrison, 31, of Sanford, was fatally shot shortly before 3:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Goldsboro Avenue and Travis Richardson, 30, of Sanford, was fatally shot at 11:58 p.m. in the 2800 block of Eames Drive, according to Sanford Police Capt. Harold Layton.
