One man is dead and two others are injured following a triple shooting that occurred around 11:15 a.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Alabama Avenue near Oaks Road.
The incident happened at a car shop. New Bern police say that when they and emergency medical responders arrived on scene, they found Marcello Bryant, 32, of Cove City, in a vehicle at the intersection of Beech Street and Alabama Avenue. Andrew West, 26, of Vanceboro, was found in a yard at Dail Street and Florida Avenue. Both men had been shot and were transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center for treatment.
West was pronounced dead at CarolinaEast, and Bryant was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville via ambulance.
A third shooting victim, Terrell Evans, 29, of New Bern, was at CarolinaEast Medical Center when officers arrived. He had driven himself to the hospital, according to police.
Meanwhile, a person on scene was transported to the New Bern Police Department for questioning and was determined to be the shooter, according to police. They say he is cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues. His name was not released.
According to West’s girlfriend, Jasmine Freeman, West sent his vehicle to the car shop to be painted. But the shop owner had his vehicle for about four months and didn’t do anything to fix it, Freeman said.
West then went with two friends- Bryant and Evans- to the car shop to get his money back, said Gooding.
