PHOENIX – Police are searching for a suspect who shot a man in a Phoenix apartment Thursday morning.
According to Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump, a 20-year-old man was shot just before 7 a.m. near Indian School Road and 23rd Avenue.
The victim Lemuel Warren, 19, who was shot at least once, was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition but did not survive his injuries, Crump said.
Phoenix police were looking for a man suspected of shooting another man during an apparent domestic dispute Thursday morning.
Officers are searching for 28-year-old Kheylon Cunningham who is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Police said Cunningham and his girlfriend got in a fight at his girlfriend’s apartment near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road.
A 20-year-old man, who is the father of one of her children, stepped in the middle of the fight and police said Cunningham shot him. He later died at the hospital.
Police said two children were in the apartment at the time of the shooting. Crump said police don’t think the children saw the shooting.
“We are fortunate that the kids are OK. It was an infant and a 6-year-old. They were not hurt in this. They are with family now and it is our goal to try and locate the suspect,” Crump said.
PHOENIX — A man who allegedly killed a person in an apparent domestic violence situation and fled the scene was arrested late Thursday night.
Kheylon T. Cunningham, 28, is accused of killing a 19-year-old man, Lemuel Warren, in a Phoenix apartment Thursday morning.
Phoenix Police Department spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said Cunningham was hiding in a nearby apartment most of the day and was apprehended when he tried to leave, without incident.
