NETHER PROVIDENCE — Township police have identified the couple involved in a murder-suicide early Friday morning.
Police said that Deanna Winkelvoss, 48, of the 400 block of East Country Club Lane in Wallingford, died from the injuries she sustained in the shooting and have said the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the manner of her death a homicide and the cause a gunshot wound. The Medical Examiner’s office had not yet issued any release.
In addition, police identified the victim’s estranged husband as Ronald Winkelvoss Jr., 44, of the unit block of Todmorden Drive in Rose Valley. Likewise, police said the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a suicide as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Around 3:41 a.m. Friday, township police responded to the reports of a double shooting in the 400 block of East Country Club Lane where Ronald Winkelvoss Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was found in extremely critical condition. She was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Police had said the situation was rooted in a long-standing domestic issue, although the husband had been out of the house for some time.
Police said he returned Friday morning and shot the woman twice before shooting himself.
Neighbors had said there were two boys, the husband’s son and his stepson, and an older daughter in the home.
