CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office this morning identified a woman who was shot in a suspected domestic violence incident on Amesbury Avenue as 27-year-old Dominique Jones.
Police are investigating the death of Jones and 38-year-old Lerod Stafford, of Cleveland.
Emergency Medical Service workers found Jones in the street around 1:50 p.m. Friday with a kitchen knife next to her and apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.
She was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center were she later died.
Officers who responded to the scene found a gun on the porch, and noticed through an open front door a man was on the floor. He was dead.
Witnesses told police Stafford and the woman had been together for nearly 10 years, the release said. Police reports also indicate the couple had been together about a decade and had at least one child together.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the man as 38-year-old Lerod Stafford, of Cleveland. The woman’s name was not released.
Dominique Jones, 27, died after being shot three times on Amesbury Avenue around 1:30 p.m.
Jones was found lying in the street on Amesbury Avenue with gunshot wounds about 1:50 p.m. Friday, police said. She was lying next to a kitchen knife, and inside the home, Lerod Stafford, 38, was found with multiple stab wounds. Police believe the incident was domestic. There has been no ruling on Stafford’s cause of death.
