Murder/Attempted Suicide – Wounded – Man (Cape Coral, FL)


(December 19, 2013)- Michael G. Young (W/M, DOB: 07-26-1964), the suspect in a weekend murder-attempted suicide that left Sally Young dead and their 9-year old son displaced, has been released from Lee Memorial Hospital following treatment for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Around 2:50 PM, Young was discharged from the hospital where he was immediately taken into custody by Cape Coral Police.

Young was transported to the Lee County Jail where he will be booked in on a Second Degree Homicide charge.

Cape Coral Police Department Release Names of Parties Involved in Weekend Shooting

(December 16, 2013)- The Cape Coral Police Department has made notification to family members of the victim from Saturday night’s shooting.

The victim, Sally A. Young (W/F, DOB: 08-18-1964) was pronounced dead on scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim’s husband, Michael G. Young (W/M, DOB: 07-26-1964), was transported from the scene with a critical injury from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He remains at Lee Memorial Hospital.

The couple’s child, a 9 year old boy, was unharmed and is in the care of family members.

The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges against Michael G. Young are pending.

(December 15, 2013)- The Cape Coral Police Department is currently on the scene of a shooting that occurred at a residence in the 2900 block of SW. 1st Pl., Cape Coral.

Officers were dispatched at around 11:18 PM to reports of multiple shots fired. A second caller called in, also reporting shots fired, just two minutes later. While en route to the call, officers were advised that one subject had been shot and that another possibly had shot themselves.

Officers arrived on scene to find one subject deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, and another subject critically injured from a apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. That subject has been transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

A child at the residence was unharmed and has been taken into protective custody.

There are no suspects at large in this case, and there is no danger to the general public.

Currently, Forensics and Detectives along with uniform Patrol Officers are on scene, gathering evidence. Cape Coral Police Department personnel will be here for the next several hours conducting the investigation.

The Cape Coral Police Department is not releasing names of the involved parties pending notification of next of kin.

No additional information will be released until later today or possibly Monday. When there is more information, an updated news release will be sent.
