A man fatally shot a woman and then turned the gun on himself Saturday afternoon at their Maywood home, authorities said.
The two were identified as a 48-year-old man named Donya Davis, who died of a gunshot wound to the head and a 41-year-old woman named Sonya Davis, who died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Autopsies today ruled Donya Davis’ death a suicide and Sonya Davis’ death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The two, who lived in the 1600 block of South 18th Avenue, were pronounced dead at the scene at 1:49 p.m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Firefighters responded there about 1:30 p.m. for a shooting, said Maywood Fire Capt. Sonya Thompson.
