NDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 16, 2013): Two children were inside an east side home when a man shot and killed his live-in girlfriend before killing himself, police say.
Police dispatchers say the call came in at 6:44 a.m. An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson says the incident happened sometime overnight. Inside the home on Gale Street, police found the bodies of 31-year-old Tamika Jones-Fleming and 27-year-old Thomas Emory. Police believe Emory shot Jones-Fleming before killing himself.
Detectives told FOX59 that the children, ages 6 and 11, were in another room when they heard an argument and gunshots, described as “three booms,” either late Sunday night or early Monday morning. They found the bodies in the morning, and the 11-year-old boy called 911.
“They heard mother and father arguing last night, and they heard some noises. They came out, they saw the parents. I don’t think they realized what was happening, what was going on (at first). This morning, when the boy realized what was going on, he called police,” said Det. Marcus Kennedy with IMPD.
The 6-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy are now with relatives. An aunt of Jones-Fleming told FOX59 there was no indication of trouble with the couple.
