CLEVELAND, Ohio – Felon Willie Riley didn’t fire the gun that killed his accomplice last week during a botched Cleveland robbery. But he’s charged with the young man’s murder, police said.
Riley and accomplice Robert L. Brown both were shot Dec. 17 by an East Side resident after they forced the man into his Rudyard Road home and beat and pistol-whipped him in an attempted armed robbery, police said.
The resident, Everton Mosby, 24, was able to reach his gun during the attack and open fire on the suspects, police said.
Mosby, who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, will not be charged in the incident, police said.
Mosby shot Brown and cohort Willie R. Riley, 27, about 2:30 a.m. The suspects approached Mosby in his driveway and forced him inside the home, police said.
