A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Long Beach that left a woman dead and another man injured.
Authorities responded to a call about a shooting on the 3500 block of Monica Avenue at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a female victim dead at the scene.
Monica Barbosa, 54, was found dead inside a converted garage, where she had apparently been living, according to police. She suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Officers were then notified of a second victim, who was taken to a local hospital. The victim, only identified as a 52-year-old Hawaiian Gardens resident, was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
After following up on leads, detectives arrested documented gang member Robert Rubio Jr. of Hawaiian Gardens.
Detectives believe Rubio, 53, was involved in an ongoing dispute with other residents at the home, which ultimately led to the shooting. The victims are not married, but are related through marriage.
