On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Jackson Road for a report of one shot. Upon arrival, officers located 28 year-old Damien Perez Adams suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.
Adams was transferred by Mobile Fire Rescue to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.
During the course of the investigation, 22 year-old Demilton Simmons was developed as a suspect. Simmons was out on bond for drug-related charges at the time of the murder. His bond was revoked during the investigation and he was being held at the Metro Jail.
On February 21, 2014, a Murder warrant was signed on Simmons and the charge added.
On Friday, a warrant was signed out to charge Demilton Simmons, of Mobile, with murder in the death of Damien Perez Adams, said MPD spokeswoman Ashley Rains.
