SALEM — Shaquille Colton, the man shot multiple times in a home on Walnut Street Wednesday afternoon, has died, according to authorities.
Colton, 20, was pronounced dead just after 5 p.m. at Memorial Hospital of Salem County, Salem County Prosecutor John T. Lenahan said. The announcement came less than two hours after the initial call to authorities went out at 3:30 p.m.
Lenahan said Colton was not originally from Salem and had just recently moved to the city.
Brent A. Carr, 24, of Salem, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have a firearm and tampering with evidence in connection to the shooting death of 20-year-old Shaquille Colton on Walnut Street, according to Salem City Police Chief John Pelura III.
