Detectives are investigating a shooting late Thursday that left one man dead and another wounded on the Near Northside.
Just before 11 p.m., police responded to the 2800 block of North Harding Street where they found Tyler Webster, 21, of Indianapolis, dead of a gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of a gold Chevrolet Impala, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department release.
Shortly thereafter, a 911 caller reported a second man, Kyle Lewis, 19, of Indianapolis, suffering from a gunshot wound in an alley at 28th and Harding streets. Crews took him to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Witnesses stated a gunfight ensued near the intersection of Harding Street and Udell St. prior to the 911 calls,” IMPD Officer Christopher Wilburn said in a release. “The suspect fired shots at the vehicle that was occupied by the deceased and a passenger. The passenger was transported to (meet with IMPD) homicide (detectives) for questioning.”
