The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in the Golden Gate Estate homicide that occurred Thursday.
The victim was identified as 28-year-old Alberto Esquijarosa Jr.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, at 4:15 p.m. authorities responded to 780 20th Avenue NW in Golden Gate Estates where they discovered a deceased male with a gunshot wound.
They have since arrested Michael Lee Trissler, 23, in connection to the incident. He was booked into the Collier County jail on a charge of second-degree murder Thursday night.
Trissler’s father prompted the discovery after calling the sheriff’s office saying his son had stolen his loaded gun and left a suicide note.
The note read: “Dear mom and dad, I’m sorry I (expletive) up. I’m tired of living this life. I love both of you so much. Don’t call 911.”
Deputies say Trissler, who lives next door to the victim, admitted he went over to the victim’s house to buy drugs, and the victim let him borrow his car. He denied the two ever argued or got into a fight.
