Killed – Jose Javier Roque-Apaulaza (Tampa, FL)


UPDATE: Detectives have made an arrest in the Attempted Murder of Security Guard Anmar Al Nueimy that occurred on November 24, 2013. Based on forensic evidence left at the scene in addition to a witness, detectives were able to identify Ricardo Carmenate as the shooter.

Carmenate was already in custody for the homicide of Jose Roque Apaulaza. On December 26, 2013 at approximately 6 p.m., detectives arrested Carmenate at his home without incident. He was booked into the Orient Road Jail without bond.

Original News Release (13-465):

On the evening of November 24, 2013, Security Officer Ammar Akram Al-Nueimy was patrolling the Royal Oaks Apartment complex located at 7307 Casitas Court in Town-n-Country. Just before 10 p.m., Mr. Al-Nueimy confronted two unidentified male suspects trespassing on the apartment complex property. During the course of trespassing both men, one of the suspects pulled a gun and shot Mr. Al-Nueimy twice. The suspects then fled the property.

On December 21, 2013 at approximately 9:40 p.m., HCSO received a 9-1-1 call about a shooting at 8830 Beacon Lakes Drive in Tampa. When deputies arrived, they found Jose Javier Roque-Apaulaza deceased in the parking lot from multiple gunshot wounds.

HCSO homicide detectives began an extensive investigation that included examination of forensic evidence and multiple interviews.

Detectives determined that Roque-Apaulaza and Carmenate met in the parking to conduct a drug transaction. It was during that time that Carmenate pulled a gun and shot Roque-Apaulaza multiple times in the upper body.
