MONROVIA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man has been shot and killed in Monrovia early Sunday morning.
The shooting in the 2000 block of Broderick Avenue occurred about 12:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Family members of the victim, identified as 18-year-old Malcolm Mency, told CBS2 that he was walking home from his job at the Sonic Drive-In when he was shot. Neighbors heard the shots and dialed 911.
Upon arriving on scene, authorities located Mency, who was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Officials said Mency was shot as many as five times, including once in the head. His family said he had no gang affiliation and was hard-working.
Miguel Salazar and Andre Goto were charged with murder Wednesday in the December shooting death of 18-year-old Malcolm Mency, a teen father who was killed when walking home from his job at Sonic Drive-In in Duarte.
