Authorities today publicly identified two men shot — one fatally — at a Pine Hills apartment on Christmas Day.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a gunman forced his way into a unit at West Oaks Apartments through a window about 5:30 p.m. and shot two men, before shooting himself to death.
Investigators say the shooter, whose name has not been released, fired shots through the door of the apartment, then shot out a side window and broke into the unit, which houses two couples.
Once inside the apartment, the gunman shot 24-year-old Austin Duink and 21-year-old Donovan Cope, deputies say. Two female occupants fled the apartment, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The gunman then shot himself, according to investigators.
Duink was also fatally wounded. Cope, who was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, suffered serious but not-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement today.
