Killed – Fernando Winters (Milwaukee, WI)

male

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – A Milwaukee father and son are charged in the murder of a man who refused to hand over $50 in a New Year’s Eve robbery attempt.

45-year-old Eric Hill was being held under a quarter-million dollar bond on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and attempted armed robbery. 25-year-old Deonte Hill is charged with felony murder, bail jumping, and illegally possessing a gun as a convicted felon. He’s under a $150,000 bond.

According to prosecutors, both Hills and 36-year-old Fernando Winters were at a northwest side hotel to collect money that a woman owed them. Eric Hill then allegedly tried robbing Winters of his $50 just outside the hotel. Prosecutors said Hill ended up shooting Winters twice, and never got his money.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — He’s one of two people (a father and son) charged in connection with the final homicide of 2013, and now, he’s been sentenced in the case against him.

46-year-old Eric Hill faced two felony charges in the case: first degree intentional homicide and armed robbery.

Eric Hill on Thursday, October 9th was sentenced to life in prison on the first degree intentional homicide (with credit for 275 days served). He will be eligible for extended supervision after 32 years (in 2046).

On the armed robbery charge, Eric Hill was sentenced to 12 years in prison and seven years of extended supervision, to be served concurrently.

A criminal complaint filed against these two says police were dispatched to the area of 72nd and W. Appleton Avenue on the evening of December 31st. There, they spoke with Fernando Winters, who told them he had been shot in the chest by someone he had never seen before following an attempted robbery as he was walking home.

Killed – Reggie Evans (Milwaukee, WI)

Reggie Evans1

A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday night in connection with the fatal shooting of a cook inside an east side George Webb restaurant, police said.

The man is suspected of killing Reginald T. Evans, 21, about 2 a.m. Friday at the restaurant at 2935 N. Oakland Ave., according to a Milwaukee Police Department news release.

Police say Evans was attempting to assist a beleaguered waitress who was dealing with a crowd of rowdy patrons. A member of the group left the restaurant, returned with a handgun and shot Evans in the chest.

28-year-old Delorean Bryson has been charged in the incident — and FOX6 News has learned he is a convicted felon — and therefore should have never had a gun.

Bryson is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon in the case.

Three other people are also charged in connection with this case. Oliver Kennedy faces a felony charge of harboring or aiding a felon. Joycelyn Long and Schalanda Long are each charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Killed – Darold Vanden Heuvel (Green Bay, WI)

Darold Vanden Heuvel

UPDATED Thursday, January 9, 2014 — 10:11 a.m.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A Green Bay police officer, involved in his second deadly shooting, has been cleared by the Brown County district attorney.

Authorities say Officer Clint Beguhn fired ten rounds and killed 63-year-old Darold VandenHeuvel last month in the underground parking garage of an apartment where the man’s estranged wife lived.

WLUK-TV reports Beguhn and another officer were called to the apartment and found VandenHeuvel in the garage with a gun. Beguhn told investigators he fired when VandenHeuvel reached for his gun.

Beguhn was also cleared in a deadly shooting outside the Packer Stadium Lounge in 2011. The officer can now return to street duty.

UPDATED Wednesday, January 8, 2014 — 6:34 p.m.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay’s police chief says an officer acted appropriately when he fatally shot a man suspected of stalking his estranged wife last month.

Police Chief Tom Molitor on Wednesday called the shooting “a tragic event,” but said the officer’s actions were justified.

Sixty-three-year-old Darold VandenHeuvel died Dec. 16 after being struck by seven police bullets inside the garage of his wife’s apartment building.

Molitor says officers had responded to a 5:30 a.m. call from VandenHeuvel’s wife saying the man was in the building.

When officers demanded that VandenHeuvel show his hands, he reached for a handgun in his waistband. Officer Clint Beguhn fired 10 shots at him. The other officer did not fire.

Killed – Ricky Taylor (Neillsville, WI)

Ricky Taylor

A 24-year-old Neillsville policeman has been placed on administrative leave after he fatally shot a 23-year-old man during an early-morning disturbance, authorities said Monday.

Officer Aaron Bembnister responded to a disturbance at a home in Neillsville about 2:30 a.m. Friday and was confronted by Ricky Taylor, said James Backus, chief deputy of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, which is conducting an investigation into the shooting.

“Taylor was ultimately shot after approaching the officer and being advised numerous times to drop the knife,” Backus said in a statement.

Taylor’s mother, Jolynn Ashmore, said Taylor came home drunk, some things got heated and she called police for some help.

Ashmore said the officer fired multiple shots. Investigators have not said how many shots were fired or what kind of knife Taylor was brandishing.

NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (AP) — The family of a man fatally shot by a Neillsville police officer has filed a claim asking the city and the officer for a $2 million settlement.

Officer Aaron Bembnister responded to a domestic disturbance call Dec. 13. According to a prosecutor’s report, Ricky Taylor ignored commands to drop the knife. The report says Bembnister retreated as far as he could when he shot Taylor. The district attorney has said Bembnister was justified.

The News-Herald Media reports the claim filed Friday alleges the city was negligent in training officers to respond to a person “experiencing an emotional crisis and/or who was intoxicated.” The claim also alleges Bembnister used excessive force.

Neillsville city attorney Bonnie Wachsmuth says the city had not been served by Friday afternoon and had no comment.

The fatal shooting of a man on Dec. 13, 2013 during a confrontation by a Neillsville police officer was justified, a prosecutor has ruled.

Clark County District Attorney Lyndsey Boon Brunette made the determination following an investigation by the Department of Criminal Investigations and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.

Ricky Taylor, 23, was killed when he approached police officer Aaron Bembnister armed with a knife and refused to drop it. Officer Bembnister was responding to a domestic disturbance. During the confrontation, the Taylor was shot by the officer. Taylor was transported to Memorial Medical Center by ambulance, then flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where the he later died.

“I have concluded there is no basis to believe officer Bembnister committed any crime,” explained District Attorney Boon Brunette. “The shooting, although regrettable, was in fact justified under the circumstances”.

Investigators concluded Taylor pointed a knife at officer Bembnister at close range. According to the District Attorney’s legal opinion Taylor’s level of intoxication may have played a role in his non-compliance. Court document say he had a blood alcohol level of .198.

Killed – Joshua J. Richards (Appleton, WI)

Joshua J. Richards

Police have arrested a Neenah man in connection with the fatal shooting last weekend.

Chong Leng Lee, 28, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Thursday on a probation violation. On Friday, an additional homicide charge was filed.

The arrest came four days after Joshua J. Richards, 25, was shot in the head around 1:50 a.m. Sunday in the doorway of Luna Lounge, 344 W. College Ave., in downtown Appleton. Richards died Monday evening.

GILLETT – The letter arrived a little more than 15 months after Josh Richards died following a shooting at an Appleton nightclub.

The email from American Tissue Services Foundation told his parents, Jackie and Mike Pische of Gillett, the donation of Richards’ tissue helped more than 50 people in 9 states and Switzerland.

It took Mike Pische, his step-dad, two days to finish reading the document.

Both say knowing their 25-year-old son lives on in others has helped them cope with his sudden loss. So have letters of gratitude from recipients.

Killed – Heather F. Adamski (Kenosha, WI)

Heather F. Adamski

KENOSHA COUNTY (WITI) — A jury on Wednesday, April 22nd returned a guilty verdict for 39-year-old Chester Mass, charged with first degree intentional homicide and felon in possession of a firearm in connection with a standoff that occurred in Kenosha which resulted in an explosive breach and the discovery of a woman who was shot to death.

Mass admits to shooting Heather Adamski in December 2013, but claims it was an accident. Mass told authorities he and Adamski had sex and were playing with a gun when he accidentally shot her in the head.

According to a criminal complaint, on December 4th, Mass woke his brother, Justin Mass, and told him he shot Adamski. Mass then asked his brother to help him get rid of her body.

Justin Mass said he feared for his safety after allegedly seeing a gun in his brother’s hand. Justin, however, was able to run out of the house and call 911.

Court documents also show Mass told Adamski he had another woman at the house and if she didn’t come home he would throw out her belongings.

Both Adamski’s daughter and a friend told law enforcement she and Mass had a rocky relationship. They also claim Mass made death threats toward Adamski.

Kenosha police were called to the scene of 20th and 57th around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4th for reports of a possible shooting inside a home. Officials say the suspect’s brother called 911, saying the suspect apparently told his brother about the shooting and a victim.

Around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, officials set off an explosive breach which forced the suspect out of the home. He was taken into custody.

Killed – Lorenzo Whitaker (Milwaukee, WI)

male

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee Police are investigating a homicide that happened at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday night, November 28th in the 5100 block of N. 42nd Street.

According to police, a 21-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and conveyed by an acquaintance to a local hospital, where he died.

One of three men shooting into the home of a robbery victim after the victim reported the robbery to police was fatally shot during the attack, apparently by one of his accomplices, according to a criminal complaint.

Lorenzo Whitaker, 21, was struck in the back during the assault shortly before midnight Thursday in the 5100 block of N. Sherman Blvd., according to the complaint. No one in the house was injured.

The complaint charges Whitaker’s brother, Dion A. Neal, 18, with armed robbery and first-degree recklessly endangering safety in connection with the shooting and robbery.

According to the complaint, Neal and another man, both armed with handguns, and a third man committed the home invasion-robbery shortly after noon Nov. 23, taking a computer and jewelry.

Neal warned the victim that if the crime was reported to police and his name came up, he would kill the victim and the victim’s son, the complaint says.

After the victim reported the robbery to police, Neal, Whitaker and another man, all armed with handguns, returned the following week and began firing into the back of the victim’s house.

The third shooter was standing behind Neal and Whitaker when Whitaker was struck in the back and left arm.

Neal and two unidentified men dropped Whitaker off at a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the complaint.

Murder/Suicide – Killed – Elizabeth Singler (Oregon, WI)

Elizabeth Singler

A Madison man who fatally shot his girlfriend and then himself at a town of Oregon residence Thursday also pulled a gun on her Nov. 3 near Olbrich Park, Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said.

Henry Pullett Jr., 68, was identified as the shooter in the murder-suicide that killed Elizabeth Singler, 64, of Madison, the Dane County Examiner said Friday.

Madison police were looking for Pullett since Nov. 3 when he allegedly fired a gun at an unidentified woman during a domestic dispute near Olbrich Park. Pullett shot the gun after he told the woman he was going to kill himself, according to a Madison police report. Mahoney said Friday that Singler was the woman in that incident.

Madison police put out a notice to deer hunters to look out for Pullett because of his suicidal tendencies. On Thursday, the couple arrived unexpectedly for legal advice at 1519 Storytown Road, a home that doubles as the owners’ law firm, Briggs Law Office, said Dane County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Elise Schaffer.

Both homeowners were present during the shooting and uninjured, Schaffer said. Mahoney said Pullett and Singler had been at the Storytown residence for quite some time before the shooting.

Mike Briggs is the owner of the home where Thursday’s incident took place.

Briggs says he and his wife arrived home around 1:20 p.m. Thursday. The man and is girlfriend arrived there about 10 minutes later.

Briggs says he no longer practices law, but knew the man because he represented him in a divorce case three years ago. They’ve stayed in touch since then.

Briggs says the man was very distraught. He told Briggs he was involved in an incident with a gun, and since he had a felony record in Illinois he may have to go back to prison.

The couple was at the Briggs home for about two hours while Briggs tried to help the man deal with the situation.

There was arguing at one point, and the girlfriend locked herself in a bathroom. She eventually came out.

Around 3:30, the man said it was too late. Briggs says the man pulled out a gun and shot his girlfriend.

Brigg’s wife was only feet from the man, and says he had to fire past her.

Briggs and his wife were not aware that the man had a gun until the shooting.

Killed – Julian Noblin (Milwaukee, WI)

male

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred near 35th and Fairmount just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, November 16th.

The victim is a 30-year-old man. The motive for the crime is unknown at this time.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — 27-year-old Ezra French of Milwaukee was charged on Wednesday, January 22nd with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Julian Noblin.

Noblin was shot in the back and died near 35th and Fairmount on Milwaukee’s north side on November 16, 2013.

According to the criminal complaint filed against French, Noblin was with his brother outside of a club in a car when a man, later identified as French, approached the two of them with a gun in hand. The complaint says the suspect “stated to both of them, ‘Don’t get out of the car.’” The complaint indicates Noblin knocked the gun out of the suspect’s hand — and began to run. A moment later, the suspect fired a shot at Noblin, striking him in the back.

Investigators took DNA swabs from the outside of the car door that matched Ezra French.

Killed – Male Teen – Shawn M. Rieves (Milwaukee, WI)

Shawn M. Rieves

Milwaukee police on Tuesday identified the gunman who was killed Monday morning by officers after an apparent attempted robbery downtown as 17-year-old Shawn M. Rieves.

Rieves was a student at Assata High School, an alternative partnership school with Milwaukee Public Schools, MPS spokesman Tony Tagliavia said.

In an email Tagliavia said crisis services were made available at the school, which is described on the MPS website as offering a student-centered at-risk program with small class sizes for students who are behind in credits and academic skill levels.

Police say a 56-year-old driver was at E. Michigan St. and N. Lincoln Memorial Drive around 7 a.m. Monday when Rieves aimed a handgun at the car and tried to open the locked passenger-side door. He fired one shot at the fleeing car.

The driver called police and gave officers a description. Officers found Rieves on the second floor of the mostly empty Downtown Transit Center sitting on a bench and holding a pistol.

Officers tried to negotiate with Rieves, but when his behavior became threatening, three officers fired, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Milwaukee police.

Officials have not detailed Rieves’ behavior before the shooting, other than to describe it as threatening. Milwaukee police said Rieves did not have a criminal record in juvenile or adult court.

Killed – Jerry P. Davis Jr (Milwaukee, WI)

Jerry P. Davis Jr

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — November 2nd marked a tragic milestone when Jerry Davis Jr. became Milwaukee’s 90th homicide victim of 2013. He was shot and killed around 7:15 p.m. on N. 50th St.

Two months after Davis’ death, his mother is taking matters into her own hands in an attempt to find her son’s killer.

“In my heart, I didn’t want to believe that my son was gone — my only child,” said Gena Clark-McKnight. “I just want justice for my baby.”

Clark-McKnight says she is not sure what her son was doing in the area at the time of his murder. Davis is remembered as a loving kid who had a passion for football.

“He loved people, loved his family, loved his friends,” said Clark-McKnight.

Davis’ loved ones are standing by his mother as she channels her anger into a new mission — putting up billboards at busy Milwaukee intersections. Clark-McKnight is paying for the 15 signs out of her own pocket, hoping they serve as a plea to all who see them.

“We need the people of Milwaukee to help us to get justice for Jerry,” said Davis’ aunt, Linda Clark. “Everybody on that block knows what happened, but nobody is saying anything.”

Killed – Timothy Nance (Fond du Lac, WI)

Timothy Nance

Recently released court files in the Timothy Nance homicide case show that more than once he pushed his wife, Eve Nance, too far.

Eve Nance has been arrested and charged in Fond du Lac County in connection with her husband’s death.

The 37-year-old Fond du Lac man’s body was dumped in a wooded area of Milwaukee where it was found Nov. 27, 2013. Police had been searching for Timothy Nance since he was reported missing by his wife on Nov. 5.

Friends of Timothy Nance told investigators that before his death, Eve Nance had twice threatened her husband’s life with a gun, according to information in more than a dozen documents unsealed by order of Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Judge Gary Sharpe.

Timothy Nance, who went missing Nov. 1, died in a domestic fight. Nance’s wife, Eve, told investigators that a gun was fired during a fight at their house, which killed her husband, Lamb said. On Nov. 27, police found his body in a brushy, wooded area at the 6200 block of N. 101st St., in Milwaukee.

A Nov. 30 autopsy ruled his death a homicide. Nance died from two gunshot wounds in the head.

Killed – Michael Terry (Milwaukee, WI)

male

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting near North and Hubbard on Saturday, October 26th. 38-year-old Michael Terry was shot and killed around midnight. There are no suspects in custody.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A Milwaukee County judge sentenced 19-year-old Drakkar Lobley on Tuesday, December 2nd to 14 years in prison and another six years of extended supervision in the shooting death of Michael Terry in October 2013.

Lobley was initially charged with one count of first degree reckless homicide in the case. In court October 13th this year, an amended charge of second degree reckless homicide was filed against Lobley in exchange for his guilty plea.

Terry was found shot to death in the 2300 block of N. Hubbard Street on October 26, 2013.

Nearly a week later, Milwaukee police initiated a traffic stop in the area of 2500 block of N. Buffum Street — during which a .40 caliber firearm was located, according to the complaint. The complaint says the driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged for possession of that firearm.

The firearm was sent to the state’s Crime Lab for analysis. An examination of the four .40 caliber casings recovered from the homicide scene as well as the bullet recovered from Terry revealed they were fired from the .40 caliber firearm recovered during the traffic stop, according to the complaint.

Police interviewed the vehicle’s driver’s girlfriend, who said she and her boyfriend had pulled up to the scene of the homicide shortly after it occurred, and Lobley got into the vehicle — according to the criminal complaint against Lobley. The woman told police Lobley stated he had just been shooting the gun, according to the complaint.

Killed – Deirera McGhee (Milwaukee, WI)

female

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened in the 4500 block of N. Teutonia shortly after 8 p.m. on October 17.

Police say a 29-year-old Milwaukee woman was shot inside of an apartment building.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee woman was shot to death when two brothers sought retaliation after a man urinated on their mother’s residence, according to a recent criminal complaint.

Bilal Garner, 23, and Malik Garner, 21, were charged Friday with first-degree intentional homicide, as a party to a crime, in connection with the death Oct. 17 of Deirera McGhee.

Milwaukee police were called to a “subject with gun” complaint at a residence in the 4600 block of N. Teutonia Ave. about 6 p.m. Oct. 17.

When they arrived, they talked to a woman who said she saw a man urinating at the side of her building and three other individuals. The woman said her son, later identified as Bilal Garner, yelled at the man who was urinating and was punched in the face in the ensuing confrontation.

About two hours later, Milwaukee police returned to the neighborhood for a shooting and found McGhee, who had several wounds to her arms, back and leg. She died at the scene.

A detective recovered more than a dozen .40-caliber casings and one 9mm casing from the scene.

One witness identified Malik Garner and Bilal Garner as the armed men who came to McGhee’s door.

A second witness admitted that he urinated on Garner’s mother’s house earlier in the day and that his actions caused a fight with Bilal Garner. He said he went to McGhee’s residence and while there, he heard a knock at the door, saw both Malik Garner and his brother, and then heard gunshots.

Killed – Joseph J. Malicki (MIlwaukee, WI)

male

A 19-year-old man was charged Monday with fatally shooting a man in the back in what the shooter thought was a gang initiation.

Joshua M. Buford, of the 2300 block of S. 28th St., faces life in prison if convicted of first-degree intentional homicide. He also is charged with two counts of being a felon with a gun, based on his juvenile record for robbery by use of force.

According to the criminal complaint, police found Joseph J. Malicki, 30, dead about 2 a.m. Oct. 12 in an alley in the 2100 block of S. 26th St. He had been shot once in the head and four times in the back.

The complaint does not indicate what led police to Buford, but during an interrogation on Feb. 7 he confessed to the shooting, according to the complaint. He told a detective he wanted to join a notorious south side street gang. He, Malicki and Brandon Todd-Romero went into the alley because Malicki wanted to fire his new gun.

Malicki fired one shot into a garage then handed the gun to Buford, the complaint says. Buford said he tried to hand it to Todd-Romero, but he turned his back and told Buford to “do it.”

Buford said he took that to be a signal that he was to kill Malicki in order to join the gang. Buford said he fired four times as Malicki was walking away. Then Todd-Romero asked for the gun, walked up and also fired a shot into Malicki as he lay on the ground, Buford told police.

Malicki was killed because the gang feared he was going to kill Todd-Romero in retaliation for another homicide, Buford told police.

Killed – John Bartholomew (Sparta, WI)

male

SPARTA — A Sparta police sergeant who on Friday shot and killed a man who charged him with a knife is the same officer involved in a shooting last year, his chief said Tuesday.

Sgt. Booker Ferguson was the first on scene to 1008 S. Fairway Drive about 9:15 p.m. when John Bartholomew’s family reported he was drinking and threatening them with the weapons, Chief Mike Kass said.

Bartholomew, 21, confronted the officer outside his squad car and refused orders to drop the knives before Ferguson shot him, Kass said. Officers and paramedics could not revive him.

Ferguson, a 10-year veteran of the department, is on administrative leave pending the investigation by Sparta police, the state Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

District Attorney Dan Cary will review the investigation to determine whether the shooting was justified.

Ferguson was cleared in a Jan. 19, 2012, shooting in Sparta that left the gunman hospitalized for more than one month.

In that case, Ferguson was the first to respond to a 911 hang up call and was confronted outside a Sparta house by Jacob Olsen carrying a loaded hunting rifle.

Olsen refused commands to drop the firearm before Ferguson shot him twice. At the time, Olsen was mentally ill and had been drinking.

Killed – Lamontez White (Madison, WI)

Lamontez White

A 30-year-old Madison man was shot and killed early Thursday after a disturbance in the Fish Hatchery Road apartment where he lived with his young son and the child’s mother, police said.

Authorities did not release the name of the victim, but the attorney for Lamontez White said Thursday that White was the man killed in the shooting.

Attorney Jason Gonzalez said he was notified of White’s death by family members prior to a final pre-trial hearing Thursday in Dane County Circuit Court, where White was scheduled to appear for a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from a Feb. 12 incident involving his then-girlfriend.
Madison police South District Capt. Joe Balles said a motive for the shooting hasn’t been determined, and no arrests were made.

“We’re looking to talk to persons of interest,” said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

“This was a very targeted act of violence,” DeSpain said. The shooting was not related to recent armed home invasions near the UW-Madison campus, he said.

It was the city’s fourth homicide this year, DeSpain said.

Police were called to the apartment at 2305 Fish Hatchery Road shortly after 1 a.m.

“Prior to the shooting, there was some type of disturbance that took place in the apartment,” DeSpain said, adding that the shooter was involved in the disturbance.

Several people who live in the apartment, including White’s 2-year-old child and a teenager, were in the apartment when the shooting took place, though some were sleeping at the time, DeSpain said.

In the early morning hours of October 3, 2013, Lamontez White, 30 yoa, was shot and killed by an unknown person (or persons) while in a ground floor apartment at 2305 Fish Hatchery Road. Several persons, mostly family, were present in the apartment at the time Lamontez was shot and killed, but no one seems to know, or have information as to who it was that shot and killed Lamontez. Madison police detectives and officers have spent many hours and days since last October investigating the death of Lamontez, and continue to develop additional leads in this homicide investigation.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, South District Detective Lieutenant Stephanie Bradley Wilson and case detectives organized an intensive day long operation to seek out and re-interview individuals who were within the apartment at the time of this homicide. Detectives and officers also sought out other persons who are friends or associates of the family to interview them as well. Approximately 20 MPD detectives and officers participated in this day long operation which was deemed by Lieutenant Bradley Wilson to be a significant success. While charges have not been filed at this time, the investigation remains very active as detectives continue to process and re-process phyiscal evidence and interviews which have been compiled thus far in hundreds of pages of case reports.

Killed – Xou Chang (Hamburg, WI)

male

In the second squirrel-hunting accident over the past two weeks in Marathon County, Wisc., a 29-year-old Wausau man died after one of his hunting companions fired at one of the bushy-tailed rodents — but hit his friend instead.

The shooting took place around 9 a.m. Sunday morning when 32-year-old Sang Her and his 37-year-old brother, Blong Her, were out stalking the cute, nut-consuming critters on a woodsy plot of private land in the Wisconsin town of Halsey.

Sang took aim at a squirrel, apparently unaware that the third hunter in their group, Xou Chang, was standing near the line of fire.

The single round from Her’s rifle went awry and took down Chang, who died from the wound.

Killed – David Johnson (Portage, WI)

David Johnson

PORTAGE — Jordan M. Scott followed David M. Johnson to work at Subway in Portage on Thursday morning with one intention, police said.

“Our suspect came up specifically, we feel at that time, to shoot and kill David Johnson,” said Portage police Detective Lt. Mark Hahn.

Johnson, 22, of rural Pardeeville, died after being shot more than five times. He “was shot in cold blood, that’s what it boils down to,” Hahn said.

Scott, 19, of rural Rio, was arrested an hour later in Columbus and was booked into the Columbia County Jail on a tentative charge of first-degree intentional homicide.

Both were employees of the Subway restaurant at 2931 New Pinery Road, not far from Interstate 39. Scott has worked there about two years and was possibly going to be trained as a manager; Johnson had worked at the restaurant since he was a teenager, Hahn said.

“They had both been written up” last week over a heated argument that took place at work, Hahn said, and they had worked together at Subway after the argument.

Johnson was arriving for work at 9 a.m., Hahn said, and had parked his vehicle in the parking lot behind the building when Scott, following in his own vehicle9, parked nearby.

Johnson was walking past the rear of his vehicle when Scott approached him, said something and fired a handgun at Johnson. Scott continued to fire after Johnson fell to the ground, Hahn said.

A Portage 20-year-old will spend the rest of his life in prison with the option for parole in 47 years after shooting his co-worker.

Jordan Scott shot David Johnson 10 times outside a Portage Subway restaurant last fall.

Jordan Scott said, “I’m sorry, David,” before pumping multiple bullets into the body of his co-worker, David Johnson – then headed toward Ohio, throwing his cellphone out the car window so his movements couldn’t be traced.

Double Shooting – Killed – Korvette Holman-Bams (Milwaukee, WI)

Korvette Holman-Bams

According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to a report of a shooting near 4th and Keefe shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, September 2nd. When they arrived on the scene, the victim, Holman-Bams, had no pulse. He was later pronounced dead after suffering a gunshot wound to the back.

Two young men, armed with a rifle, decided to “do a lick on the weed man” Monday, meaning, rob the neighborhood marijuana dealer.

But the victim saw them coming and fired first, killing one of the pair. On Friday, the dead man’s friend was charged with felony murder in the death.

According to the criminal complaint:

Tyrone T. Doss, 20, and Korvette Holman-Bams were walking up an alley to their intended victim’s house in the area of N. 4th St. and W. Keefe Ave. when Holman-Bams said, “There he go,” referring to the weed man.

Doss told police that when he looked up, the weed man was firing at them. Doss ran but was hit. Another person picked up Doss and drove him to Doss’ grandmother’s house. Someone called police, who arrived and took Doss to the hospital.

Doss initially told investigators he had been visiting a friend and then began walking on Keefe Ave. when he heard shots, started to run and realized he’d been shot. When police said his story didn’t square with evidence from the shooting scene a couple of blocks away, he admitted the foiled robbery, according to the complaint.

Holman-Bams, 22, was found dead, shot in the back, in the street in the 3500 block of N. 4th St.
