A Sacramento man was shot to death while in an SUV last night in Rosemont.
Alexander Brian Chavez, 21, was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Suburban by Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies who responded to reports of shots fired about 6:30 p.m.
His sport utility vehicle was stopped in the roadway, facing northbound on Westporter Drive at Lilibet Avenue. A female passenger inside the SUV at the time of the shooting was uninjured.
The initial investigation revealed that another vehicle was seen speeding from the scene just after shots were fired. No description of the vehicle or the shooter is available, according to a sheriff’s press release.
The shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. on the 4100 block of Westporter Drive. A man [Chavez] and woman were driving down the road in a white SUV when someone came up beside them in another car and started firing, Sacramento County sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Ramos said.
