Killed – Linda Sue Mitchell (Bassett, VA)

A Bassett woman who was shot Tuesday night died on Thursday afternoon, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Linda Sue Mitchell, 57, of 224 Bittersweet Drive in Bassett, died at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., according to Henry County Sheriff’s Maj. Ricky Walker.

David Leon Mitchell, 64, of 224 Bittersweet Drive in Bassett, was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, according to Henry County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Winn.

The shooting was reported to the E911 Dispatch Center around 11:14 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office release stated. Officers responded and found Linda Mitchell lying on a bedroom floor to the right of the bed in the Mitchells’ home on Bittersweet Drive, court documents stated.
