Prince Edward County, VA—A suspect in a Prince Edward County home invasion remains on the loose Monday, after police say a homeowner shot at three people, killing two of them, as they broke into his home Sunday.
Police responded to an emergency call, in which the caller stated that three individuals entered his home, armed with weapons. The called told police he exchanged gunfire with the suspects.
When police arrived, two suspects who had been shot were pronounced dead at the scene; the third suspect fled on foot.
The right lane of Route 460 east was closed Sunday afternoon, as Virginia State Police assist Prince Edward County officers in searching for the escaped suspect.
The bodies of the two deceased suspects were transported to the medical examiner’s office in Richmond for identification and cause of death.
The two deceased men were identified as Albert Lorenzo Johnson Jr., age 36 of Farmville and Carl Wayne Saunders, Jr. Age 29 of Lynchburg.
