Police are searching for information about a Thursday night shooting on Dudley Avenue that left one Spring Lake man dead.
A suspect has not been named or apprehended as of press time Friday, according to Sanford Police Department Capt. David Smith.
Benjamin Shelvin Jr., 28, of the 300 block of McKay Drive, Spring Lake, was taken to Central Carolina Hospital for a gunshot wound in the chest at 10:30 p.m., according a police release. Shelvin later died from his injuries.
Police were on the scene at the 400 block of Dudley Avenue for more than an hour Thursday night leading into Friday morning.
