One person is dead after gunshots were fired in the parking lot of a Walmart store Wednesday night.
The shooting happened on LA 1 in Port Allen around 9 p.m. The name of the victim was not released.
The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said a car sped off with the victim shortly after the shooting. The car was pulled over near the CATS terminal on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge.
Deputies said the driver was trying to get the victim to the hospital.
The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended Roosevelt D. Jones, 19, 3441 Bird Heights, Addis, around 8:38 a.m. in Garland, Texas, and booked him with principal to first-degree murder in the slaying of Leon Banks, 36, of Plaquemine, sheriff’s spokesman Col. Richie Johnson said.
