Double Shooting – Killed – India Lomax (Anderson, SC) | Shot in the USA: Gun Violence After Newtown

Anderson County deputies say they have filed charges against a security guard involved in a shooting at an Anderson nightclub that ended in a wreck Saturday.

Deputies say they’ve arrested 28 year old Joey Johnson, Jr. and charged him with assault and manslaughter in the death of 21 year old India Lomax.

The Anderson County Coroner says Sunday Lomax died from a gunshot wound in the back as she drove away from the nightclub Marvon’s Place just after 4 am Saturday.

Johnson told deputies he fired in self defense at the truck Lomax was driving as he says it veered toward him.

The truck later crashed into a parked car and a utility pole not far from the nightclub.

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. —An Anderson security guard who says he shot a woman in self-defense after an altercation at a nightclub turned himself in to face charges Thursday afternoon.

Joey Ryan Johnson Jr. is charged with voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature

Investigators said a man, Willis Donald, 33, and a woman, India Lomax, 21, both of Anderson, were shot.

Anderson County deputies were called to a wreck early Saturday on the Highway 28 bypass at Market Street where they learned two people in the truck and had been shot and one had died.

The coroner said the driver, India Cynthia Lomax, 21, was shot in the torso from behind and died at the scene.

Deputies said Lomax and her passenger, Willis Reginald Donald, 33, were shot at a gas station next to Marvon’s nightclub. Donald was shot in the arm.
