Two people were found dead inside a car late Wednesday night.
Police responded to a reports of shots fired just before 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Iris Street.
The first suspect on trial for the 2013 killings of two men whose bodies were found in a car in Thibodaux is not guilty, a jury decided Friday after nearly four hours of deliberation.
Brian Jones, 20, of Thibodaux, was charged as a principal to second-degree murder in the Sept. 25, 2013, shootings of 19-year-old Tre Scott and 26-year-old Jordy Williams, both of Thibodaux.
Jones could have faced life in prison, the same sentence the alleged shooter, Alfred Starks, 21, of Thibodaux, faces when he goes to trial. A date hasn’t been set.
Defense attorney John Thomas, of New Orleans, said Jones had rejected a plea deal of 20 years in prison.
