FISHTOWN – October 27, 2013 — Philadelphia Police are investigating a deadly overnight double shooting after a birthday party in the city’s Kensington section.
Police tell Action News that several party goers had gathered at The Liquid Room, a newly opened nightclub located in the 1300 block of North 2nd Street, for a woman’s birthday.
The woman left the club with two of her male friends shortly before 2:00 Sunday morning. The trio got into a Dodge Magnum parked in the 200 block of West Master Street – the two men in the front seats and the woman in the rear of the vehicle.
Then as the car was driving west on Master Street a male opened fire on the car. The vehicle traveled several feet before coming to rest on the steps of a nearby building.
Police say at least 14 shell casings were found at the scene.
The 28-year-old driver was shot twice in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 43-year-old front seat passenger was shot multiple times and is currently in critical condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. The woman in the back seat was not injured.
Then just before 2 a.m. on Master Street near American, a 28-year-old man was found shot twice in the head inside the driver’s seat of a 2006 Dodge Magnum, police said. He was declared dead at the scene and his name has not been released. A 43-year-old man in the passenger’s seat suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the arms, thigh and a graze wound to the chest. He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital in critical condition.
