A Krotz Springs woman faces a second-degree murder charge after allegedly killing her son’s roommate.
Odeal Lirette, 67, of 513 N. Levee Road, is said to have shot 21-year-old James “Little Ricky” Guillory Jr. Monday night after an apparent argument.
“They had exchanged words and the end result was a death,” said Krotz Springs Police Chief Norman Mouille.
Lirette apparently shot Guillory, a former member of the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program, twice with a .25-caliber handgun at his 459 N. Levee Road address.
The two lived within several houses of each other. According to Mouille, Guillory was living with one of Lirette’s sons. After the shooting, both Lirette and her son contacted the police department.
In opening statements in the trial of Odeal Lirette Pippins, prosecutor Donald Richard described the scene leading up to the shooting outside a Krotz Springs home around dusk on Nov. 4, 2013.
