A Villa Rica jewelry store owner was shot and killed during a robbery Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 1 p.m. at The Mobley Company Jewelers Inc., which is located in a strip mall on Carrollton Villa Rica Highway.
“At least four males entered the business. It appears it was a robbery where they smashed some of the jewelry cases,” said Villa Rica Police Capt. Keith Shaddix. “We don’t know what happened after that. We are still looking to see what went wrong with the robbery – what resulted in the shooting.”
Police have not identified the victim, but the family and friends said Mitch Mobley was shot and killed when four or five men robbed the store.
