Killed – Eddiz Walter (Springfield, MA)

SPRINGFIELD — A State Street man was shot several times in the back and seriously wounded just after midnight Thursday. The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center, but an update on his condition was not immediately available.

Springfield Police Lt. Henry Gagnon said officers were called to 1146 State St. around 12:03 a.m. after receiving a report of gunfire in the Mason Square neighborhood. The caller reported people running from the area after up to five shots were fired.

SPRINGFIELD — Police have identified a Holyoke man, shot to death in a State Street bar early Thursday, as 24-year-old Eddiz Walter.

SPRINGFIELD — Security was tight in District Court Wednesday as 29-year-old Chase Johnson denied a murder charge and related firearm charges stemming from the July slaying of 24-year-old Holyoke resident Eddiz Walter at a State Street bar.
